Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Mission Statement

The WisABA DEI mission is to intentionally foster diversity, equity and inclusion in every action set forth by the WisABA community, in order to provide an environment of support for our members, clients, and communities in which we serve. The WisABA DEI committee serves to nurture self and group identities, supporting colleagues and members with empathy, humility and acceptance of differences. Continued education for committee participants will occur on the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion to promote and expand the most contemporary and culturally relevant information. The group stands against discrimination and division of all entitites. WisABA is actively working towards supporting diversity and inclusion within the field of ABA and the broader Wisconsin community.

Goals and Priorities

  1. Recruitment, retention and support of minority members

  2. Recruitment, retention and success of minority members including Board members and interested persons

  3. Continue equity in training and CE opportunities provided to members as well as expanded training related to DEI topics for members

    • Identify training opportunities/recommendations for ABA practitioners in the Wisconsin Community on various DEI related topics (i.e., sexual/gender/racial/cultural misconduct, inclusive language use, neurodiversity, cultural competency). 

    • Ensure that all offered training and resource materials are provided in a manner that ensures inclusivity via use of closed captioning, alt text, and visual descriptions.

 The WisABA DEI committee was established in March 2022. The mission statement was developed by the DEI committee and approved by the WisABA Board of Directors. To allow for continued growth and transparency, the goals and priorities will be updated biennially. Access to past goals and priorities, along with updated progress made across each measurable goal will be made available via the WisABA DEI webpage.
